Canopy Piloting Seminar in Robertson

Skydive Ceres will be hosting a Canopy Piloting Seminar from 3 to 5 October 2008 for all skill levels. The seminar will be hosted by Driaan Louw (member of the SA team for the World Championships in Canopy Piloting in November 2008), Frits van Daalen and Kevin Vester and is being presented in support of the “Not Even Once” campaign. There will be video feedback on every jump. Jumps will be from 6000ft. You should budget for approximately 6+ jumps for the weekend. Registration is R150.00 and includes dinner on the Friday evening. The Not Even Once campaign aims to communicate to the youth at their level. The campaign is twofold. The first stage of the campaign is to hold events that will attract the youth. The events create a platform where we can communicate to the youth about the dangers of substance abuse. People in general find a sense of belonging in various sub cultures. The youth is the same. They find a sense of belonging in sub-cultures like surfing, skateboarding and music. The Not Even Once campaign communicates to the youth by means of these sub-cultures, motivating them to live healthy lifestyles by partaking in alternative adrenaline fuelled activities without the addition of drugs. The second stage of the campaign comes into play after the events. Funds raised through the events go towards the Drug Education Agency to conduct ongoing drug awareness campaigns in schools situated in the respective communities hosting events. Effectively the Not Even Once events are for the hosting communities as the local Community Policing Forums select the specific schools to be awarded with annual drug awareness campaigns.
