                                           Saturday, 7 March 2009

We are now just a matter of days away from the party of the "past 5 decades", the 2009 SA Skydiving reunion on Saturday 7th March at the Pretoria Skydiving Club, Wonderboom Airport.

The Club will be open on Friday evening the 6th for those who are in town early, and the DZ will be open for skydiving until 3 o’clock on Saturday with the last load of the day being a demo of pond swooping and wing-suit flying. The DZ will be open for normal jumping on Sunday starting at 11 o clock.
Amazingly, the wing suit demo will be watched by Peter Hazelhurst, the man who pioneered South Africa's first ever canvas wing suit back in the 50's !
Fires will be lit from midday so "bring and braai" whatever you need for the day, there will be limited braai packs available. Please contact Hettie ahead of time on 083 777 3535 or at greatfun@mweb.co.za if you need to order.
There will be a marquee with an extra bar, video's and music and once again, please can we request that you let us know at ralex@iafrica.com if you are going to join us. Please include your name, email address, telephone numbers and licence number. If you can’t remember your licence number, contact Neeve at admin@para.co.za and she will delve through the archives.
If you still need accommodation, a list of available options in the Wonderboom area can be obtained from admin@para.co.za  When booking please mention your connection to the Skydiving Club. Camping is also available at the drop zone.
Please note that it is an active airfield with a swimming pool and an open body of water for canopy swooping so young children are discouraged.
You are welcome to bring along any stories for submission to the SA Skydiving history book, as well as images. The list is growing by the day, and this is looking more like it is going to be the biggest get together of skydiving friends ever, so lets see you all there !!

Take the N1 North towards Polokwane / Pietersburg
Take the Rustenburg highway offramp (N4) which is directly after the Zambezi road offramp (approximately 5 km out of Pretoria)
Stay on the left hand side when going through the toll gate on the N4 (toll fees R7.80) which is also the Dr. Swanepoel offramp.
At the top of the offramp, turn left into Dr. Swanepoel.
At the first stop street turn right into Airport road.
You will go through Doornpoort, continue along this road and you will eventually see the airport on your left hand side.
At the T junction / traffic circle turn left into the Wonderboom airport.
As you enter the Airport premises, you will find the pay parking for the terminal building right in front of you. The terminal building is to the far left (in front of you).
You must turn right, going past the parking area and away from the terminal buildings.
You will pass “Republican Aircraft Parts” on your left and a water tower on your right - through the boom gate.
Stay on the tar road, following the perimeter fence all the way. You will pass various hangars – stay next to the main fence.
Continue on the tar road all the way to the Pretoria Skydiving Club.
